Six people in England have been charged with terrorism offenses in relation to organizing protests and holding Zoom meetings allegedly linked to banned group Palestine Action, police said.

The alleged offenses relate to arranging public protests in support of Palestine Action in London, Manchester and Cardiff, as well as a demonstration planned for this Saturday in London.

The charges also cover 13 Zoom meetings allegedly held between July and August in support of the proscribed group.

Defend our Juries, a UK activist organization linked to Palestine Action, said the six people who were charged were members of its group. It criticized the arrests and said they would not deter people from taking part in this weekend’s protest.

The UK-based Palestine Action, which aims to disrupt the operations of weapons manufacturers supplying the Israeli government, was proscribed in July, a month after two of its activists broke into Britain’s largest air base, and damaged two military aircraft.

The group’s ban makes it illegal under UK law to be a member of – or invite support for – Palestine Action and puts them on par with terrorist organizations such as Hamas, al Qaeda and ISIS.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu later conceded that journalists and first responders had been killed, referring to their deaths as a “tragic mishap.”

Dr. Mohammad Saqer, a hospital spokesman and head of nursing, said that five journalists and four health workers had died.

The journalists killed are Mohammad Salama, a cameraman from Al Jazeera, Hussam Al-Masri, who was a contractor for Reuters, Mariam Abu Dagga, who has worked with the Associated Press (AP) and other outlets throughout the war, and freelance journalists Moath Abu Taha and Ahmed Abu Aziz.

In her late 50s and early 60s, Li Dongju found herself solo traveling alongside people a third of her age. But despite her late start, she has now biked solo through 12 countries across three continents.

The 66-year-old grandmother from Zhengzhou, in China’s central Henan province, has pedaled around Southeast Asia, Europe, and Oceania, visiting countries like Cambodia, France and Australia on her journeys.

Speaking only Mandarin, she relied entirely on translation apps to communicate with locals. On a tight budget, she camped in parks, gas stations and even cemeteries, though she says many kind locals welcomed her into their homes.

Li’s adventure was halted by the Covid-19 pandemic in early 2022. But she says that her cycling experiences have been “life changing.” Li believes that travel was what cured a decade-long depression that followed her divorce in 2005.

“Before cycling, I was heavily dependent on others … and felt like a frog in a well,” she said. “Now, I’m a wild wolf — free, fearless and independent.”

One of the biggest-selling K-pop acts, NewJeans, has changed its name amid a long-running legal dispute that has gripped South Korea.

Speaking exclusively to CNN ahead of Friday’s announcement, the five-member group unveiled it will now be known as NJZ.

Band member Pham Ngoc Han, who goes by Hanni, said the rebrand was a way of “turning this rough period of time into something more exciting,” as the group confirmed it will perform under its new name for the first time at the ComplexCon Hong Kong festival in March. The band will also debut a new song at the three-day event.
“We are working a lot to resolve everything so that we can go… back to normal,” Pham said, speaking to CNN in a phone interview. The 20-year-old singer added that the band does not want its legal dispute with record label Ador “to be the focus of our careers.”

NewJeans emerged as one of South Korea’s most successful pop acts after storming to the top of the country’s charts with debut single “Attention” in 2022. The band achieved international success less than a year later with EP “Get Up” (featuring the crossover hit “Super Shy”), which reached number 1 on the US Billboard 200.

In addition to Pham, the group’s other members — who go by their given names and are all currently aged under 21 — are Haerin (Kang Haerin), Minji (Kim Minji), Hyein (Lee Hye-in) and Danielle (Danielle Marsh). Thursday’s announcement marks the latest twist in an ongoing battle with record label Ador, a subsidiary of Hybe, the K-pop management giant behind acts including BTS.
